ARTICLE
The Madonna Fanclub, called ICON (previously 'Like A Fanzine') publishes a magazine for fan club members. The magazines themselves are printed on thick, glossy paper, with around 20 pages. Inside are nice images - some candid, some professional photoshoots. Each magazine begins with a letter written by Madonna herself. Inside, content includes interviews, reviews, fan letters, etc. / Collectable magazine, back issues are no longer being offered / Issues 1-6 are the hardest to find, with issue #1 often selling for quite a high price for a magazine. / UPDATE (November 25, 2006) - ICON issue #46 has been published. First one that was yearly published - not the quarterly that had been issued before, printed on the same thick, glossy paper, this magazine is 71 pages long - larger than the old style which were about 20 pages. It contains several articles on the newest album, Confessions on a Dance Floor, and behind the scene looks at the birth of the Confessions Tour. It also includes a discography of the first two singles, Hung Up and Sorry, which is nice, plus an article from a fan who won the ICON Fanclub contest to a day on set of the filming of the Sorry video. As with all the ICON magazines, though, the images and information are dated by the time the publication is released. Aside from the interviews, most of the content is "old news" by the standards of the average fan. This does not, however, take away from the collectability of this item, as it is not available for retail sale. / UPDATE December 2, 2006 - ICON, the fan club, has just announced that it will no longer publish this magazine. An eBook will be sent quarterly to fanclub members. This makes issue #46 the last paper magazine.
